Parenting through Humor and Doodles

Cool, man, cool.

Cool, man, cool.

Today was full of quotatable gems. My daughter threw so many softballs at me today. I now have four doodles coming up from just today. Score!

I’ll keep this one short, since mommy needs a good night’s sleep after a 5am wake-up. Thanks, kid.

My daughter is rounding the corner on turning 4 (what?!), and she seems to be getting more hilarious by the day. And now she knows she’s hilarious, which is only upping the ante. Every time she makes me laugh she tells me to “write it down in your book!” (a/k/a the book I keep with my quotable gems as inspiration for my doodles). I’m afraid I’ve created a monster. Needless to say, she comes up with some great stuff, most of which I can’t place for context. Like this one: “cool, man, cool.” Who said this? Not me. I’m not Keanu Reeves. Definitely not my husband. He’s more of the “rock on!” type.

So my question today (and every day) is: where do kids get this stuff? Well, my answer is the same as to the famous question “How many licks does it take to get the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?” – The world may never know.

I’ll also add here: if you aren’t already writing down the things that your kids are saying, start now. Everyone tells you to take a lot of pictures (do that too, obviously). But really, you won’t want to forget these little zingers. I’ll be quoting my kids for a lifetime with this stuff.
