Hard Work Pays Off!

Hard Work Pays Off!

Today has been a rough day for this mama.

We had to have our car serviced, so we were stuck at home all day. I find that if we don’t get out in the morning, my entire day falls into the exhaustion black hole.

So I made the executive decision to be #badmom for the day and let my kids watch way too much television so I could get some things done. I also took a nap during Paw Patrol, because… exhaustion.

Onto the point…

I just got a new computer, and have a brand new office setup. I work from home, often without childcare. So I had to craft a space that would allow me to do three things: (1) inspire me to work and not procrastinate, (2) simultaneously work and watch my kids, and (3) blend into our living space.

Now that I have my new desktop, a proper desk (not our dining room table), and a space I call my own, I feel a lot more productive. So today I decided to focus on work, because my new space makes me happy.

I have been telling my kids that “hard work pays off” for a while now. I mostly say this when they get frustrated doing something (puzzles, putting on shoes, etc.). My daughter has just started to repeat this catch phrase back to me when she succeeds at something. Today’s #badmom is also today’s #proudmom.

So I am trying to take a dose of my own medicine and start the daily process of turning My Mommy Doodles into something bigger than a hobby.

It’s growing, which is awesome. This week I hit 2,000 followers on Instagram, so a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has followed along and provided support along the way!

I have a lot of work to do in the Facebook, Twitter, and Blog arenas, so I’ll be spending some time expanding those. I also have some ideas on how to spur some growth so I can monetize, so stay tuned for that.

You can also find me over at Fairfield County Moms Blog (click the link and give this great group some support). I’m a new contributor, which is super exciting.  I’ll have a monthly post over there. Here is a link to my first one from a few weeks ago.

Bear in mind, I’m doing all of this on top of being a stay-at-home and work-at-home parent. I am overburdened, to say the least. I have a box full of pleadings and appeals to work on that stares at me every day (I’m an attorney, remember? Yes, sometimes I forget too). Go big or go home, dare to fail gloriously, and all that jazz. It looks like I ended up inheriting my dad’s entrepreneurial spirit after all.

Hard work pays off.

Mama out.
